"Subscriptions started" metric represents only new subscriptions without trials. If a user has a trial, the first event is "Trial started" and if the user converts to a paid subscriber the following event is "Trial converted"
The "New Subscriptions" chart shows paid subscribers added for the selected period. The chart includes users who started subscriptions and converted from a free trial.
